I’m probably one of the only people that didn’t think I’d love this book! I almost didn’t want to read it, yet I kept hearing great things about it from the early buzz so I figured I’d give it a chance. Plus the stunning cover! How can you not love it?! It’s so pretty!
For the first half I kept wondering just why everyone loved the book so much. It was good, but I wasn’t in awe with it. I actually almost put it down at one point in time to read something that was calling my name, yet I decided to keep on with it. At some point about half way through something clicked and I fell in love with Daughter of Smoke and Bone, I just didn’t realize it until the end.
I loved the characters, each kept me entertained. The story line kept me questioning what was going on. I think that’s why I enjoyed the last half so much – it finally began explaining just what was going on and who Karou really is. I suspected what was going on and was pleasantly surprised that I was right, but also that there was still some things I missed out on! So it wasn’t completely predictable.
Fantasy lovers are sure to enjoy Daughter of Smoke and Bone. For others – if you are unsure about it like I was give it a chance!
