Dark Eden by Patrick Carman

Fifteen-year-old Will Besting is sent by his doctor to Fort Eden, an institution meant to help patients suffering from crippling phobias. Once there, Will and six other teenagers take turns in mysterious fear chambers and confront their worst nightmares—with the help of the group facilitator, Rainsford, an enigmatic guide. When the patients emerge from the chamber, they feel emboldened by the previous night’s experiences. But each person soon discovers strange, unexplained aches and pains. . . . What is really happening to the seven teens trapped in this dark Eden?

When I saw the initial buzz about Dark Eden, I was pretty curious. Videos and an app to accompany a YA book? Very intriguing. I’ll be honest, I haven’t downloaded all of the videos yet, but having just completed the book recently I want to ASAP. Yep, the book had that kind of effect on me. I’m obsessed with this world and want to know more! If you want to check out the site – Dark Eden. (Also yesterday I had a tour post that included a creepy clip from the latest video! Be sure and check it out.)

Think of those rehabilitation programs…each of the teens is living with a fear that won’t go away with normal therapy. As a result they are sent to a week long program out in the middle of nowhere. The book artwork I saw is AMAZING and fits each chapter so well. Dark Eden is frightening and fascinating all in one. I’m a big fan of “creepy” books, but I also love books that deal with psychological things. I loved the characters! I really would love to know even more about each of them. Their lives before entering the treatment program, for example.

The twists…WOW! This is one of those books where I really didn’t know what to expect and was hooked trying to find out just what was going on. It definitely kept me guessing. I’ve never read anything from Carman previously, but am planning on picking up more!

If you are looking for a creepy mystery, Dark Eden is for you! Be sure and check out the videos though if you have a capable device.

I received my copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
