The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting

Sixteen-year-old Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her unusual so-called gift. While her confusing feelings for her best friend are new, she has been able to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered—and the imprints that attach to their killers since she was a little girl. Violet has never considered her ability useful, but now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.

I’ve been wanting to read this book for awhile, but it was never available at the library.  Instead it went on my neverending wishlist…about 200 books strong. When it came up as a 1.99 ebook, I bought it right away. I’ve spent the past couple of days gobbling it up.

It’s about a sixteen-year old girl, Violet, who senses death.  She finds dead bodies of both animals and humans and she has the ability to sense death on people…ie hunters or cops. A serial killer is attacking young, attractive girls in and around where Violet lives.  As if that’s not enough, she’s dealing with her crush on her best friend and his entourage of female fans.

I enjoyed The Body Finder.  It does have some gore, but it’s not too detailed that it should put anyone off.  Since I enjoy the occasional horror book, it didn’t bother me at all.  Her reactions were would I’d imagine mine to be if I was thrown into the same situations as she was throughout the book.  The love story aspect didn’t seem cheesy at all.
