Review + Giveaway: Invisible by Jeanne Bannon

Lola’s not pretty. Lola’s not popular. Lola wishes she could disappear … and then one day she does just that… For seventeen-year-old Lola Savullo, life is a struggle. Born to funky parents who are more in than she could ever be, Lola’s dream of becoming a writer makes her an outsider even in her own home. Bullied and despised, Lola still has the support of her best pal Charlie and Grandma Rose. Not only is she freakishly tall, Lola’s a big girl and when forced to wear a bathing suit at her summer job as a camp counselor, Lola’s only escape from deep embarrassment seems to be to literally vanish. Soon after, she discovers the roots of her new “ability”. Slowly, with Charlie’s help, Lola learns to control the new super power. The possibilities are endless. Yet power can be abused, too… Then, when tragedy strikes, Lola must summon her inner strength, both at home and at school. She has to stand up for herself, despite the temptations and possibilities of her newfound super power.

*Guys – I hate to write such a short review, but I’m not feeling well (to the point that I had to have someone proof-read my review because I was saying “our” in place of “are” and bad, embarrassing things like that) and I needed to get the review up for the tour. I apologize! My bad blogger-ness aside, you need to read this book!*

Invisible is one of those books that pulled me in right away and I couldn’t stop reading. Even now I’m pulled to the story and the characters. Lola is your typical teenage girl, she’s incredibly shy and isn’t supermodel gorgeous. Actually, she reminds me of myself when I was in high school. As a result of being an outcast, she’s bullied like so many of us are. Very rarely have I come across a book in which the female main character is treated like this. You cannot help put feel connected to her and Charlie, her best friend.

Lola learns she has this special ability to go invisible. I’m sure you can all imagine the fun that will ensue with that discovery. Invisible is hopeful, yet fun. The ideal feel-good book that is perfect for anyone who is different in any way or just wants to explore the other side.

Dannon’s struck gold with Invisible. I personally can’t wait to read more from this debut author!

I received my copy to review for the book tour.

  5. Oh, I’m so sorry you don’t feel well, I hope you get better soon! I’ve been there an no what it’s like to be in the fog land of sickiness. The books sounds good, and you gave a good review without giving too much away. I feel most reviews give away too much and I end up skimming parts if I haven’t read it yet.

  6. I want to thank you for hosting me, Amanda and for the review. I hope you feel better soon :)
