Review + Giveaway: Pure by Jennifer L Armentrout

Host: Stuck In Books – Blog Tour Schedule

If you haven’t read ‘Half-Blood’ yet, this review may contain slight spoilers. Also, go buy it now. Don’t wait, you want to read this series! (Or there’s a giveaway for both books at the bottom of the post.)

Alex lives–and loves–recklessly, until a single decision leads to a heartbreaking revelation. As a mysterious threat closes in and she confronts a Council that wants to see her in servitude, Alex face a choice between love that is fated… and love that is forbidden.

What is there to say about Pure?!?! When I read Daimon and Half-Blood I was enthralled and didn’t think the series could possibly get any better, but it did! I’m going to keep this review short, because I don’t want to spoil things if you haven’t already read the first two.

Alex is back as her strong kick-ass self, she knows how to defend herself and protect those around her. Seth is becoming more and more charming, sure he’s arrogant but what girl doesn’t love love? And Aiden..sigh! In Pure the love triangle is running rampant, every few pages my “choice” changes – the way a real love triangle should be! If you’ve ever read many of my reviews of books with love triangles, you know I strongly frown upon them, but this one is amazing.

Usually, around book two or three in a series there is a filler book, one to establish the rest of the story line. Pure wasn’t that book; instead, we have another action-packed book. This is a series that I can picture myself reading for a long time and still loving. I cannot wait to see what happens next to our beloved Covenant characters!

Like I already said, if you haven’t read Daimon and/or Half-Blood go do so NOW! (Daimon can be downloaded for free from Spencer-Hill!)

I received Pure: The Second Covenant Novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

2) Before you go, in honor of the Pure Blog Tour, Letters Inside Out is giving ONE lucky winner e-book copies of Half-Blood and Pure from either Amazon/Kindle or B&N/Nook.

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem–staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

I’m so looking forward to read about the love triangle in this series! And Alex seems to be such a strong and great main character!
Thanks a lot for the giveaway :)

  2. Seth certainly is charming in Pure. I never changed teams but I can certainly see why someone would. I’m Team Aiden NOW and FOREVER.

Love how you pointed out that this book isn’t the filler book of the series. I’m not sure Jennifer knows how to write that kind of book – thank heavens.

Nice review. Thanks for being part of the tour and for doing a giveaway.

“Seth is becoming more and more charming, sure he’s arrogant but what girl doesn’t love love? And Aiden..sigh!” If I was Alex, I sure wouldn’t be able to choose; I’d want them both! :D

This book sounds so good I can not wait to read it.

  7. Vivien says:

My favorite heroine right now is Katniss, though this changes frequently. Team Aiden!

  8. Amy S. says:

My favorite heroine is Scarlett from Gone with the Wind. She is so frustrating and self-centered, but so strong. She held her family together through thick and thin. She was there for Melanie and the baby. In the book she is not a good mother, but still I admire her strength and courage through all of her trials. Thanks for the chance to win e-books of Half-Blood and Pure. I haven’t read either yet, but they sure do sound good!

  12. Great review! My favorite heroine is Hermione. She is intelligent, brave, and strong. I also love Elizabeth Bennett. She is strong and is willing to defy the customs of her time to be happy. Thanks for the chance to win!

  13. Tanychy says:

Uh I think Alex will join that list! :) Right now I’d say Rose! :)

  14. Angkarina says:

My favorite heroine is probably Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games), but I like Hermione (HP), Meghan Chase (Iron fey) & Clary Fray (Mortal instruments) too!

  15. Samantha S says:

My favourite heroines are Rose from The Vampire Academy series and Meghan from the Iron Fey series.

    Half-Blood’s cover is GORGEOUS!

  16. Denise Z says:

I have been curious about Pure and thank you for sharing, as well as for the lovely giveaway opportunity. I think my favorite heroine today is going to be Rachel Morgan. I have been a little hesitant about the descendents of the gods type reads, but am currently reading a different title and really liking it. I think this series definitely might be my cup of tea :) Plus who cold resist the beautiful covers of these books, they are awesome.

  17. Jenni L says:

I’m sure it’s already been mentioned but my favorite is definitely Katniss! I always love a good heroine though. I haven’t been able to get ahold of this book yet but it sounds really good!
